HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS
Following is a selection of early sources on the Eucharist.

v The Didache (c. 100 AD), also known as The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles presents a picture of early Christian community, including baptism (chapter 7) and prayers for communal meal (eucharist) in chapters 9 and 10.

v The Divine Liturgy of St. James, traditionally attributed to the first bishop of Jerusalem, St. James, brother of the Lord.

v Egeria an incomplete manuscript in which a fourth century Christian woman describes her pilgrimage to the Holy Land, including detailed descriptions of monastic life, holy places and liturgies.

v Constitution of the Holy Apostles a third-century or disputably fourth-century compilation of material of differing ages, notably the latter portions contain information on the instruction of catechumens, baptism, and canons. Some of the language mirrors that of the Didache.
