Director of Worship, Diocese of Belleville

The Diocese of Belleville is seeking a full-time Director of Worship. The Director of Worship is the primary resource to the Bishop and the Diocese for ongoing renewal of the liturgical life and formation of the Church in southern Illinois. This position, in consultation with the Bishop, manages and directs diocesan worship activities, provides resources to parishes, and develops and administers programs of liturgical formation consistent with the USCCB Office of Divine Worship and diocesan guidelines. The Director of Worship works closely with leadership, parish priests, and parishioners.

Applicants must have strong knowledge of the Roman Catholic Liturgy, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, the theology and history of sacramental, liturgical, and devotional practices and a familiarity with all major Church documents on liturgy, art and environment, and music.

Bachelor’s degree in Roman Catholic liturgical studies, Catholic theology, or equivalent preferred, and 5-8 years’ experience in pastoral services or worship, or any appropriate combination of education and experience. He or she is required to be a faithful, committed Catholic who understands and accepts the
teachings and disciplines of the Catholic Church.
