National Meeting Registration Deadline Nears

Fri, 08/18/2017 - 12:06pm

Have you registered yet for our 2017 National Meeting?  The early bird registration deadline is September 1.   Please join us in Bloomington, MN, October 3-5 as we explore “Touching the Hem of His Garment: The Pastoral Care of the Sick.”

Who has already registered?   Region Ten is currently leading with the largest number of registrations.  Gather your region and see if you overtake them! (Let’s make this a friendly competition.)  Don’t forget to encourage others in your regions to attend the October 4th Study Day – priests, deacons, hospital chaplains, those who visit the sick, etc.

The member dioceses of Region VIII have been working hard in anticipation of your arrival.   They look forward to welcoming you to Region 8 and to the lovely Twin Cities!  Fr. John Sauer, local chair, commented, “As a parish priest, an important part of my ministry is caring and comforting those who are sick or suffering and their families. The rites that make up the Pastoral Care of the Sick are beautiful means of extending the healing ministry of Jesus in these moments of crisis and pain. As a diocesan director of the Office of Divine Worship, I recognize that I have not given much support to our priests in strengthening this important ministry. That is why we are excited to explore the Pastoral Care of the Sick for the first time as a Federation.”

FUN FACT:  St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul was founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1853 as the first hospital in Minnesota. This was the beginning of a significant outreach by the Church to share the healing ministry of Christ.
