Best Practices for the Celebration of Confirmation

The United States Bishops have promulgated a revised translation of the Order of Confirmation. This 2016 edition is a retranslation of the 1971 Rite of Confirmation; it follows the guidelines of Liturgiam Authenticam (2001) and the revisions to the Roman Missal, third edition (2011). While substantive changes are few, the publication of the new translation offers an opportunity to review and assess diocesan celebrations of the Sacrament of Confirmation. The pastoral recommendations in the document below are based on current liturgical texts and are designed to assist dioceses and parishes in the authentic celebration of the sacrament.
