Free Introduction Webinar (December 15, 2021)
In November 2019, the Bishops of the United States passed the revised English translation of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. That was a translation of the editio typica, so the conference still needed to pass the USA arrangement of the text (in English and Spanish). They did that on November 17, 2021 and it will be sent to the Vatican. We do not expect that the new version will be available to parishes until 2023. The Bishops also passed the significantly-revised National Statutes for the Catechumenate (in English and Spanish). These, too, must go to the Vatican for approval.
A task force of FDLC members has been preparing nationwide formation on the revised OCIA. This will focus not only on new words, but on a renewed appreciation of the initiation process and rites. Methods so far have included twenty online webinars. Kits for local diocesan offerings and in-person presentations coming soon!
