FDLC joins in prayer for the repose of the soul of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who passed into eternal life on December 31 at 9:34 AM (Rome Time) at Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in Vatican City. May he rest in peace. Well done, good and faithful servant.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 5 at 9:30 AM Rome time (2:30 AM Eastern);   Pope Francis will preside.

  • For Pope Benedict XVI, may he be numbered among God’s elect and know the splendor of heaven, we pray to the Lord.
  • For God’s peace upon the spirit of Benedict XVI, our retired Pope; may he share in the eternal fellowship of those who, faithful to the teachings of the Apostles, dwell in the heavenly kingdom, we pray to the Lord.
  • For Pope Benedict XVI, who was entrusted with the care of the Church, may he enter the joy of God’s kingdom where there is no more sorrow and no more tears, we pray to the Lord.
  • For Francis our Pope, may he sustain the Church with gifts of the Holy Spirit so that the Gospel will be preached, the sacraments celebrated, and charity be known to all people on earth, we pray to the Lord.
